 Education Specialist – Unlocking Talent_VSO

VSO is currently implementing the Unlocking Talent Project in various primary schools in Malawi. The project uses tablet technology to improve core competencies of reading, writing, and mathematics for Standard 1 and 2 (early grade) primary school children. Therefore the project is looking for an education adviser who will be able to train and support the teachers and school administrators to be able to respond to these challenges and to mainstream this new approach into their teaching as well as the overall school activities.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • The ideal applicant would be a person who has at least five years of experience working in the education sector.
  • You would have teaching and classroom management experience especially in the early grades (first and second year of primary school).
  • Additionally, the ideal candidate should have experience in using different and innovative approaches to improve learning outcomes; experience in using data/research outcomes to make and implement initiatives that would enhance learning; ability to self manage and set targets.
  • You should also have teacher training, capacity building, and monitoring and evaluation experience.
  • Prior experience in using technology in education would also be a plus.

Opportunity Cost

(Fully Funded)

  • VSO will cover your travel, vaccinations, accommodation, and medical insurance costs, along with a local living allowance which will be paid in local currency. This allowance meets reasonable living expenses in the country, but will not be enough to send money home. You will also receive some financial support to contribute to your on-going expenses at home.
