A Step Towards a Fair Future – Young Caritas

This project is an incredible opportunity for someone who has the desire to go into a career in volunteer management or simply wishes to develop their people management skills in an NGO setting. The volunteer will primarily be supporting two projects. Through the Refugee Project volunteers give up their time on a weekly basis to deliver educational and recreational activities to the women and children living in Sofia’s refugee reception centres. Volunteers responsibilities will include: recruitment of young people, supporting the development of policies and working procedures, supporting the young people within the group to self-manage, involvement and guidance on the development of new initiatives such as campaigns and events, that the young people within the group have thought of and helping with their implementation, supporting funding applications and fundraising campaigns, decoration and refurbishment of the meeting space, which has been provided by the municipality

EGYPT, SYRIA, PALESTINE, LEBANON, TUNISIA, ALGERIA, MOROCCO, LIBYA, TURKEY, CYPRUS, & OTHER COUNTRIES ARE NOT FROM THE MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA.

Program Period

A total of 51 weeks

During the period 14/09/2020 to 14/09/2021

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • A desire to develop professionally and personally through the course of the project.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision as well as part of a team.
  • Good IT skills including use of Word, Excel, Social media and Content Management systems.
  • Proficient use of English language.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Creativity and ability to think ‘outside the box’.
  • Willingness to work in challenging environments.
  • A responsible, empathetic, flexible, optimistic and emotionally resilient.

Opportunity Cost

(Partially Funded)

  • Through granted funding, accommodation (private room with shared kitchen; internet), transport, food, and pocket money will be provided.
  • Training courses on working with vulnerable groups as well as On-Arrival and Mid-Term training by the European Solidarity Corps.
