Generation Africa- GoGettaz Competition.

GoGettaz is a competition for innovative, young entrepreneurs pursuing the trillion-dollar opportunity of Africa’s agri-food sector. If you are a young agripreneur with a pioneering business venture, you could win one of two US$50,000 cash prizes that will help you change your world and transform the agri-food business.

Generation Africa is a partnership initiative with a vision to strengthen the ecosystem for youth entrepreneurs in the agri-food sector across the continent. Founding partners are Econet, a privately-held multinational telecommunications, media, energy and technology conglomerate, and Yara International, a global crop nutrition company, founded in Norway.

Eligible Countries

EGYPT, TUNISIA, ALGERIA, MOROCCO, SUDAN, LIBYA, SOMALIA, DJIBOUTI, MAURITANIA,COMOROS, & OTHER COUNTRIES ARE NOT FROM THE MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA.

Program Period.

  • 30 semi-finalists will be announced on 6 August 2019.
  • 12 finalists will be chosen and announced by 13 August 2019.
  • Winners will be announced on 4 September 2019 at the event.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Entrepreneurs must be age 35 or under and be legally recognized as an adult in the country of his/her nationality.
  • Entrepreneurs must hold nationality (with official ID) from any of the 54 nations of the African Union.
  • Entrepreneurs must be the founder or co-founder of the enterprise he or she represents in the competition and play an active role in its leadership.
  • Entrepreneurs must have no criminal record related to corruption, tax evasion, felony or other offenses, and be willing to provide a signed declaration to that effect, if requested.

Opportunity Cost

(Award)

  • The winner will get US$50,000.
  • The winner has the chance to attend the Africa Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) meeting in Accra, Ghana.
  • Finalists will be provided with the following in relation to such travel:
    • Airfare vouchers.
    • Hotel accommodation.
    • The provision of transport and meals.
    • Coverage of such other expenses and/or costs as determined by the Sponsors in their sole and absolute discretion.

  • Why – What inspires you about this work? What social impact could it have? What problem does it solve? What jobs does it create?
