Description

Rubincam Youth Writing Competition

The awards may be given annually to a student in either one or two age categories for an appropriately prepared genealogy. Up to two honorable mentions (runners-up) may also be named in each category.

More Details

The awards are announced and presented at the annual NGS Banquet at the annual NGS Family History Conference. If the winners are not present, award presentations may be made at another agreed-upon time.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Eligible applicants for Senior category are high school students in grades 9–12.
  • Eligible applicants for Junior category are middle school students in grades 6–8.
  • Submissions must be in English.
  • Submissions must be original unpublished work.

Opportunity Cost

(Prize)

  • Awards available: 2
  • The winner of the Senior category receives a $500 cash prize, a plaque, and a one-year NGS membership (non-print).
  • The winner of the Junior category receives a $250 cash prize, a plaque, and a one-year NGS membership (non-print).

How to Apply

First Step:

  • For the Senior category, prepare the submission according to the instructions and  style provided here.
  • For the Junior category, prepare the submission according to the instructions and  style provided  here.

Second Step:

  • Send the submissions via Postal Mail to NGS Junior Rubincam Award National Genealogical Society 6400 Arlington Blvd., Suite 810, Falls Church, VA 22042‐2318 USA.
  • Get a tracking number to insure the package get to NGS.
