Academic English Skills aims to provide you with thorough training in the language and related academic skills, enabling you to best achieve your academic potential at University. These skills include the processes of academic writing, effective and extensive reading strategies, effective participation in seminars and delivery of presentations, and listening to and recording information effectively from lectures. You will also develop the accuracy and range of written and spoken language required to use language effectively and appropriately, with clarity and confidence in an academic context.
Maths
In this module you will focus on basic topics and methods in Numerical Techniques, Algebra, Calculus, Statistics and Probability with a view to strengthening your background knowledge and improving your skills in handling and presenting data.
Personal Learning and Critical Thinking Skills (PLTS)
Personal, Learning and Critical Thinking Skills are essential skills for work and learning, and will prepare you to confidently enter university and later working life. The six groups of skills are:
This module is assessed by a project that focuses on your chosen degree subject and is an essential component of the International Foundation Year Programme.
Additional requirements
Age on entry: 17+ (in the September or October of the academic year you wish to start at the International Study Centre). Must turn 18 before the start of your undergraduate degree
